MALTA
SDC Members Carmelo Spiteri, Joseph Buttigieg and Tonio
Farrugia left
Malta
on Sunday 9 March for Peru. These three Members are to strengthen the work
started many years ago by Fr Carlos Azzopardi. These three missionaries have
undergone intensive missionary training prior to their departure. The first
phase of the course was an eight two-hour sessions on Mission Theology. Then
they moved to the second phase of missiology that focused primarily on
discerning one’s own missionary vocation. The third and final stage dealt with a
number of various themes on both the personal level and the cultural aspect of
Peruvian life. In this final phase, the group also had a number of live-ins and
a retreat. Here we would like to add a note of thanks to a number of persons,
especially missionary priests from the Missionary Society of St Paul, who helped
us during this course.
LONDON — Brixton
The first Holy Communion group that started meeting last October had a number of activities organized for them and their parents. Two parents’ meetings were organized; one in November and another in December. SDC Members of this centres are also preparing worksheets intended to be used in conjunction with the HERE I AM religious education programme in Catholic Primary Schools. The Members plan to prepare similar worksheets for each and every topic of this programme.
ALBANIA — Korce
This year will be the tenth year of our Society’s presence in Albania. We are very happy to note that the Society is growing at a steady pace here. In the very near future, we shall be receiving the first two Aspirants as SDC Candidates. Our Society is instrumental in bringing Christ back to a society which has experienced long years of atheism.
