Mpeketoni - Kenya

The building of new classes in Bakanga Secondary School is progressing as scheduled to house more pupils in the coming scholastic year. The Superior General has asked sdc Member Oliver Aquilina from Mellieha and Richard Grech from Gozo to form part of our group at Mpeketoni. As we promise them of our prayers, may we also wish them a successful endeavour at this mission.

Ruiru - Kenya

Manuel Sammut together with Paul Mutunga have continued to strive hard in running our Vocational School here in Ruiru. Our Sunday classes are also a source of inspiration, the number of those attending is very encouraging and the zest shown by Evans and a number of candidates make every Sunday a very special occasion. This Centre will also be receiving a new impetus through the presence of sdc Member Roberto Zammit from Pembroke whom the Superior General has asked to go and form part of our group at Ruiru. We also promise Roberto our prayers and may he also experience God's love in this new mission. We thank Philip Spiteri for his three months stay.

Peru

Our Members have continued their initiation period by attending language courses and courses related to inculturation. Now that they are about to end their first part of the course, they will be visited by GEC Superior Natalino Camilleri who will, together with the Members, assess this first phase of their missionary experience. Superior Natalino will be accompanied by Member Stephen Zammit, who is earmarked to join this group early in 2004.

As part of the preparation for the special programme of Holy Week, the Members of this Centre held a two-hour reflection moment animated by Fr Janvear MCCJ. Then on Thursday after Easter a special programme was held for all the children attending our Centre from the various mission centres. This programme was very well attended, around 300 junior and senior members participated and took active part in the various prayers, songs and dances that were organized to commemorate Christ's victory over death. The Parish Priest, Fr David Ferrobosci MCCJ presided the programme.

We would like to congratulate our 8th Year Primary students for their outstanding results in their state exams. One of our boys placed 2nd among all the stat students by obtaining 278 marks out of 280. All 33 8th graders succeeded in passing the Kordofan State Final Examination. Mabrouk - well done!

Australia

PRESENTATION of the 'RULE of Life'

Members from the Australian Region received the 1999 'Rule of Life' from the hands of the Regional Superior, Charles Galea. This was held during the Annual Reflection Weekend where we explored the theme 'Mary - Seat of Wisdom - Cause of Our Joy'.
ARW was facilitated by Reverend Father Tiernan Doherty, cp over the weekend of 4 - 6 July 2003. Held at Holy Cross Centre, Templestowe, we journeyed with Mary through significant events in her life marrying them to our day-to-day journey on the spiritual path. The theme was timely in view of the Year of the Rosary. A Votive Mass of George Preca was held during the weekend. Members from each state attended the ARW.
