 This Mass held at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne, on Sunday 17 June at
4.00 pm was attended by SDC Members in the Region. A wonderful experience for all, it was an
opportunity to affirm Members and celebrate the charisma of Blessed George Preca. The Mass was
celebrated by Most Reverend Denis Hart, Administrator of the Archdiocese of Melbourne assisted by
Most Reverend Eric D’Arcy, Emeritus Archbishop of Hobart and Most Reverend Joseph Grech, Bishop of
Sandhurst and Reverend Charles Gauci, Chaplain to the SDC in Australia. Bishop Grech delivered the
Homily.The Opening Procession included Maurice Mifsud, previous Regional Superior, Charles Galea, present Regional Superior and Miriam Belli, representing the women section of the SDC in Australia. These placed a candle before the image of George Preca. Emmanuel Catania and Mary De Bono representing t 
he SDC Superior Generals, men and women respectively, also took part and addressed the gathered assembly during the mass. A representative from each state was
also included in the procession.Following the Mass, a Reception Dinner was held at Gradenhurst eceptions, Essendon. Most Reverend Frank Little, Emeritus Archbishop of Melbourne joined us. Bishop Grech, Maurice Mifsud and Charles Galea addressed the gathering. The occasion was a chance to experience the spirit of George Preca living among us a strong, courageous, undaunting and generous spirit. We thank God for that.
