All members of Mid-Dlam
ghad-Dawl work on a voluntary basis.
Usually, a new volunteer
would start by attending an introductory course given by Mid-Dlam
ghad-Dawl during the first quarter of the each year. This course
deals with the prison system in Malta and the voluntary work related
to the prisons. After successfully completing the course, you
would be invited to attend for some meetings of the Family
Support Group, just to get a closer feel of our field of operation.
Later, according to your preference, you would join one of above-mentioned
sections.
Hypothetically, on becoming
part of MDD, you would also be able to start entering the prisons
as a visitor. This, however, depends on whether the prison authorities
issue the necessary permit, but it also depends on your age and
sex. There are, in fact, various ways of meeting prisoners face
to face, and each case would be dealt with individually.
If the introductory course
taken at the beginning of your voluntary experience with us is
still due, you would be invited to attend the course later.
If you feel you
should join us in our exciting experience with prisoners and
their families, please do not hesitate to contact us. We shall
be very pleased to answer your questions and help you in any
way we can. As a start, we invite you to follow our philosophy
and principles.
Just to get the idea.
Thank you!
