FOREIGN PRISONERS IN EUROPEAN PENITENTIARY INSTITUTIONS

Mid-Dlam ghad-Dawl participated in a
European Union project on foreign prisoners held in European penitentiary intitutions.
The project was funded mainly by the European Commission.
AIM & TASKS
The main aim of the project was to address the issue of social exclusion of prisoners who are detained in the EU outside their country of reidence.
OUTCOMES
The project was intended to have two main outcomes.
First, to study and analyse foreign prisoners' situation in the twenty-five EU member states.
Secondly, to exchange information among experts.
And thirdly, to develop recommendations and innovative approaches for co-ordination and co-operation on a European level.

Mid-Dlam ghad-Dawl participated as Malta's expert in the field.
ACTIVITIES
• Various meetings between partners.
• Meeting in Tilburg, the Netherlands, on the 23-24 February 2006 to present a report on foreign prisoners in Malta.
• Publication of findings .
• Meeting in Brussels.
