Two
crimoginical theories: how they view the victim,
as opposed to the offender — Dr
Mark F. Montebello (April 2004)
Crimogenical theories frequently
consider only the frame of mind of the offender, but
rarely of the victim. This applies to the large array
of theories that are proposed by the biological. psychological,
and sociological schools. But how would these theories
view the victim? What would the victim's place be in
such theories? |

Reducing
emotional and financial burdens — Dr
Mark F. Montebello (May 2005)
Most research
studies and monographs dealing with victims of crime
generally bypass some of the most important financial
aspects of victimisation. By and large, they concentrate
solely on compensation and restitution to victims. The
very few that venture further mention businesses – including
insurances – in a negative light, highlighting
the lucrative aspect of their endeavours. Is this right?
Do financial enterprises have more to offer? |

According
to criminal justice research, who seems to get a “better
deal” from the justice process, victims or
the accused? — Dr Mark F. Montebello
(August 2005)
Until the latter half of
the 20th century the criminal justice system seems to
had taken victims of crime for granted. And, like anything
else that is taken for granted, by time they were overlooked
and forgotten. But what has brought about the change
of attitude? Was it really in the victim's interest? |

Anti-Semitism in Malta — Victim Support Malta
(August 2005)
Anti-Semitism in Malta is not overt, mainly because the Jewish community in Malta is not numerous or 'visible'. This report goes into the ins and outs of racial tendencies in Malta. It gives a 360 degrees view of what the situation is and how it could develop. |
