Executive Meeting — 8 January: The first meeting of the year was held by VSM's Executive.
Mediation meeting in Bordeaux — 26/27 January: VSM's Director, Pamela Hansen, was in Bordeaux, France, for a meeting with partners in the Mediation project. VSM prepared a document relating to the subject, which is to be included in a publication reviewing mediation systems in Europe.
Volunteer meeting — 29 January: A refresher meeting was held for all VSM volunteers. Ideas and experiences were shared all around. The meeting was part of VSM's support structures for its on-field workers.
Meeting with police — 7 February: VSM's Director and Coordinator, Pamela Hansen and Romina Balwin respectively, met police inspectors at the police headquarters in Floriana. This meeting was part of the on-going working relationship that exists between VSM and the crime squad of Malta's Police Force.
European Victims' Day — 22 February: VSM commemorated the European Victims' Day with a seminar at Attard & Co., Marsa. Special guests addressing the seminar included Dr Anthony Azzopardi, a lawyer who was himself a victim of a serious crime; Dr Michael Spiteri, the Head of the Casualty Department at St. Paul's Hospital; and Inspector Portelli, a member of the Criminal Department of the Malta Police Force. The seminar was very well-attended. VSM presented the results of a field research done by VSM itself concerning the victimisation of international visitors in Malta. A publication related to the researchwas also officially launched.
Professional meeting — 10 March: VSM's Director and Coordinator, Pamela Hansen and Romina Baldwin respectively, met with Clinical Psychologist Dr Paul Micallef. The meeting was held in order to continue to bring closer to the service professionals with a heartfelt interest in victim support.
Tourist EU project — 28 March: Partners in the EU's tourist victimisation project from UK's Victim Support and France's INAVEM were in Malta for a business meeting held at VSM's offices in Valletta. The project is slowly drawing to an end, which will be in August 2007. During the Malta meeting final administrative, research and financial reports were reviewed and endorsed.
Meeting with DVU — 3 May: Romina Balwin, VSM's Coordinator, met Ms. Doreen Camilleri, the Head of the Domestic Violence Unit (DVU). The meeting explored issues of domestic violence and ways of collaboration between VSM and DVU.
Mediation meeting in Lisbon — 10-13 May: VSM's Coordinator, Romina Baldwin, and Researcher, Dr Mark Montebello, were in Lisbon, Portugal, for a meeting with partners in the Mediation project. Other experts in criminal matters were also present as VSM's guests, namely, Mr Sandro Gatt, Director of Correctional Services in Malta and of the local civil prisons, Dr Silvio Meli, a Magistrate at the Law Courts of Malta, Mr Oscar Grech, a member on the Board of Directors of the Malta Mediation Centre, and George Busuttil, Secretary to Mid-Dlam ghad-Dawl (Daritama).
VSE AGM — 23-27 May: VSM's Director, Coordinator, and Researcher, Pamela Hansen, Romina Baldwin and Dr Mark Montebello respectively, attended the AGM and annual conference of Victim Support Europe (formerly the European Forum for Victim Services) in Siófok, Hungary.
Meeting with Parliamentary Secretary — 13 June: Pamela Hansen and Dr. Mark Montebello, VSM's Director and researcher respectively, met Dr. Carm Mifsud Bonnici, the Parliamentary Secretary withing the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Issues related to VSM, especially government funding, were discussed.
At Probation Services — 4 July: Romina Baldwin, VSM's Coordinator, had a meeting with probation officers at their offices in Valletta. A presentation of VSM's work was made, and issues of collaboration discussed.
Volunteers — 5 July: A meeting for all of VSM's volunteers was held at VSM's offices in Valletta. Administrative matters were mainly discussed.
Appogg meeting — 25 July: A meeting with all domestic violence personnel of Agency Appogg was held at the agency's offices in Guardamanga. Romina Baldwin, VSM's Coordinator, explained VSM's role with victims and its forthcoming committment with victims of domestic violence.
Meeting with Parliamentary Secretary — 28 July: A further meeting with Parliamentary Secretary Dr. Carm Mifsud Bonnici was held in Valletta. This was a follow-up meeting of the 13th July meeting, and was also attended by Commissioner of Police John Rizzo and Mr. Maruzzi from the courts. Ways of VSM development and mutual coorperation were discussed.
SOS Malta — 21 August: Romina Baldwin, VSM's Coordinator, met members of SOS Malta, and discussed collaboration possibilities. SOS is a Maltese-registered NGO set up in 1991. It aims at aiding people experiencing times of crisis and empowering them by providing support services and opportunities to implement development and change in their country to ensure a better quality of life.
Director Resignation — 7 November: Due to personal reasons, Pamela Hansen has had to resign from Director of VSM.
Domestic Violence — 16/17, 23/24 November: A number of VSM volunteers have been given an intensive course on domestic violence over two weekends. The course was delivered by VSM's researcher, Dr Mark Montebello. The trainees also attended a study-session at one of Malta's womens' refuges.
Meeting in Trier — 29-30 November: VSM's researcher, Dr Mark Montebello, was in Trier, Germany, for a meeting with partners in the Mediation project.
