In a strange land anyone would feel
utterly perplexed; everything would seem complicated and
confused. If one had not the opportunity to ask his way
about one would remain in a distraught situation, unable
to make heads or tails of one’s plight.
The same happens to people entering
the ‘world’ of criminal justice for the first
time, especially as a victim of a criminal offence. Victims
need clear directions to help them orient themselves and
find their way around. Otherwise, they simple fail to understand
what is expected of them, and what rights they are entitled
to.
Information here has a mission of
justice. As in information centre, Victim Support Malta directs victims
in the aftermath of their victimisation. If need be, and
if a report to the police would have been lodged, Victim Support Malta
directs them also within the complexities of the criminal
justice system.
Our mission is to inform and support
ALL victims of crime, whether they would have reported
the crime or not, and whether they are Maltese or foreigners.
Our service embraces a policy of equality that guarantees
a professional help to all victims irrespective of their
personal qualities.
