We aim
at orienting victims of crime within the systems of criminal
and penal justice
Fundamentally, Victim Support Malta
has a social objective. Its mission is to offer a serious
solution
to
a real problem.
The elaborated criminal justice system lacks
an overall clear and basic strategy. It is not enough to
simply fight criminality.
This has to be done with much thought and proficiency.
In the first place, limited resources have to be used economically;
then, strategically. In this process the appropriate management
of information is fundamental. Confusion in the system
slackens
its right functioning.
Thus, the objectives of Victim Support Malta are the following:
1. To collect and manage procedural
information relating to criminal, penal and therapeutic
systems;
2. To network
with related agencies and thus offer victims
and witnesses at court an orientation and advisory
service
in their dealings with the above systems;
3. To advise and monitor the
needs of victims of crime and witnesses at court;
4. To encourage and assist individuals
and organizations to undertake professional studies
of the criminal
justice system and of crime-related issues.
