Information is gathered from those
persons and institutions directly or indirectly involved
in the criminal justice system: information related to
legal aid (prosecution and defense); to conditions controlling
the life of victims, court witnesses and offenders (courts
of justice, prisons, rehabilitative agencies); and to criminal
justice in general (criminal law, rights of victims and
witnesses at court, rights of offenders).
Information is gathered automatically
as regulated by agreements with the necessary conditions
of confidentiality and reservation.
The major sources of information are
the Police Force, the Courts of Justice, and the Correctional
Facilities.
The VSM organizes its information
according to demand necessities. The main aim of this organisation
is to assist victims of crime and witnesses at court, but
other auxiliary aims may also be addressed, such as the
provision of classified information to the source-agencies
themselves.
The economic policy of the VSM is
to remain absolutely independent from any other agency
involved in the criminal justice system, especially the
Police Force.
