GOING SOUTH: Meeting the challenges of introducing victim-offender mediation in Southern Europe
|
Victim Support Malta is one of the partners in a
European Union AGIS project on victim-offender mediation services.
AIM & TASKS
The main objective of the project is to realise an effective support to the development of victim-offender mediation in Southern European countries
OUTCOMES
The specific objectives of the project are:
1. to study, at the conceptual and practical level, what the possibilities are for implementing victim-offender mediation in Southern European countries;
2. to discuss how the experience in Central and Northern European countries can inform and support the development of victim-offender mediation in Southern European countries;
3. to prepare strategies for promoting the development of an integrated policy concerning victim-offender mediation in Southern European countries;
4. to actively work towards creating dynamics for exchange and co-operation (networking) between Southern European countries in this field;
5. to discuss what Central and Northern European countries can learn from the developments in criminal justice in Southern European countries; and
6. to study what can be learned from the previous points in terms of policy development concerning victim-offender mediation at the level of the European Union.
