The assessments done in prison are based on the following two indexes (as explained hereunder:

EuropASI - The European Addiction Severity Index. This consists of a semi-structured interview that gives a multi-dimentional profile of the substance dependent individual and the severity of addiction. It covers six main problem areas: medical, employment/support, alcohol/drug, legal, family/social, and psychiatric. Each include lifetime measures that which can serve as predictor variables.

GHQ - The General Health Questionnaire. This is a screening instrument to detact psychiatric disorders in community settings and non-psychiatric clinical settings, such as primary care or general practice.
